The TAD EL34-STR BLACKPLATE™ delivers a refined interpretation of the traditional EL34 sound. Expect a smooth, musical breakup supported by warm mids, a broad and well-defined low end, and a harmonically rich top register. Its overall response aligns closely with the NOS-style designs associated with early high-quality tube production.

This model benefits from stable thermal behaviour, contributing to consistent operation and extended service life. Its tonal characteristics – detailed reproduction, natural dynamic feel, and clear presentation of complex material – make it suitable for a wide range of EL34-based amplifiers, including designs from Marshall, Hiwatt, and Orange. It may also be used as a replacement for 6CA7 or KT77 types.

It features a black-plate structure, reliable heat dissipation, and selection and matching performed by TAD in Germany. Production of the BLACKPLATE™ series has resumed using remaining original materials, making this new run available again since 2024.
